NWANA
The federation's main home: sport, Series, championships, governance, and news.
NWANA Health is the health, rehabilitation, and research home of the Nordic Walking Association of North America. This page says plainly who stands behind the site and how it works.
NWANA is the national federation developing Nordic Walking in North America across four connected fields: sport (the NWANA Open Series and championships), education (the NWANA Academy and instructor preparation), community (local NW Groups), and health: this site, together with the Charity Challenge, where sustained everyday activity is studied and encouraged.
Because for Nordic Walking, sport and health are the same road at different speeds. The technique taught to a beginner in a community group, to a patient group walking as part of a rehabilitation program, and to an athlete preparing for a World Championship is one technique. NWANA Health keeps the health side of that road honest and well lit: what the activity is, what research supports, where it is used in medicine, and how a person actually begins.
